Delta II Heavy rocket's second stage is being prepared to lift in the mobile service tower at Launch Complex 17-B, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. This rocket will launch the Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF), equipped with cryogenically cooled instruments and a large telescope, aimed at detecting infrared energy in space, which would otherwise be blocked by Earth's atmosphere. This image can be used for aerospace programs, educational materials on rocket launches, NASA projects, and engineering feats in space exploration.
