Ghostly Blue-Green Plume from Amery Ice Shelf Mackenzie Bay Antarctica February 2012 Image
This satellite image from NASA’s EO-1 ALI shows Mackenzie Bay near the Amery Ice Shelf before northern icebergs, including ghostly blue-green tendrils possibly caused by frazil crystals. Suitable for use in scientific studies of glaciology and oceanography, as well as in educational materials discussing the effects of climate and oceanic processes in Antarctica. The image, captured in February 2012, is perfect for visually announcing research findings or featuring in news articles on polar regions.
