IRAS 12196-6300 Emission-Line Star and Reflection Nebula in Space Image
IRAS 12196-6300, located about 2,300 light-years from Earth, is an emission-line star in its infancy, displaying bright and dark lines in its spectrum. It is surrounded by reflection nebulae, indicative of the high concentration of dust from its formation.
