Satellite Image Captures Contrails over Clouds in North Atlantic Ocean Image
This satellite image shows contrails formed by high-altitude aircraft above the clouds of the North Atlantic Ocean. Captured by the MODIS on NASA’s Terra satellite on February 9, 2015, this image illustrates how the exhaust from aircraft injects extra water vapor into the atmosphere, creating visible trails. This image is useful for studies in atmospheric science, weather patterns, and aviation impact on the atmosphere. It can be used in educational materials, scientific research, and environmental awareness campaigns. The image is contributed by NASA in cooperation with the LANCE MODIS Rapid Response Team at NASA GSFC.
