Space Shuttle Discovery Preparing for Museum Journey at Kennedy Space Center

This captivating image shows Space Shuttle Discovery at Kennedy Space Center as the sun rises. The shuttle has just completed its move from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the Shuttle Landing Facility. A tail cone installed over the shuttle’s main engines reduces aerodynamic drag for its ferry flight. At the facility, Discovery will be hoisted onto a Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a modified Boeing 747, which will transport it to Washington Dulles International Airport. Finally, Discovery will be displayed at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. Perfect for educational content, museum advertisements, and historical documentation.
